Sandy

About

Sandy was a part of a small community cat colony cared for by an elderly woman on a fixed income.

Years ago, six-year-old Sandy appeared at this cat colony very pregnant and looking for help. Since then, the colony caretaker has been caring for Sandy and the rest of the colony to ensure they are always fed and have clean water.  Sandy was an amazing mother and even helped other moms in the colony care for their young! Since then, Sandy and the other cats in the colony have been spayed and vaccinated, thanks to the help of volunteers.

When Sandy disappeared for several days, the colony caretaker started to become very worried. Finally, after she reappeared, the woman

was horrified at poor Sandy's horrible condition. She had lost weight and her eye was severely damaged and camouflaged in infection.
Because Sandy needed urgent medical attention, the caring woman reached out to Cat Matchers to see if we could assist. Of course, we immediately agreed to help Sandy and quickly rushed her to one of our vets. The vet believes it to be the result of a traumatic injury as she had lots of scratches on her belly and the eye was ruptured.

Sandy had a successful eye-removal surgery.  Sandy had her stitches removed with no complications and the lump that was found during her check-up was removed and determined to be benign. She is now eligible for adoption and looking for her forever home.  She loves attention and will grab your hand if you stop petting her before she wants you to finish.  She gets along with other cats as she was previously the matriarch of her community cat colony.  She enjoys hanging out with her humans and relaxing.  She isn't slowed down by the eye removal at all.

Approx DOB: 6/1/2016, System Number: T-AMC4-23
