Retina & Sclera

About

Retina and Sclera are a pair of sisters that have one eyeball between the two of them. Retina was born with one eyeball and Sclera was born with none. But don’t click away now! Stay and read more! Blind cats are extraordinary. Visitors to their current foster home refuse to believe Sclera is blind, despite the evidence to the contrary. She navigates her world with ease, jumping up and down from surfaces, slaloming her way through all untidiness, and generally behaving like any other cat. Between her and her sister, she is the more likely one to get into things she’s not supposed to!

Retina has more grey in her coat than white and Sclera has more white than grey. Retina is a stocky cat and Sclera is long and lean. But the sisters aren’t just opposites in their appearances. These girls are ying and yang, different in so many ways. Retina purrs at the drop of a hat, while Sclera never does (she may not be able to; some cats aren’t). To make up for it, she gives lots of kisses. She is also the epitome of ‘curiosity killed the cat,’ and will poke her nose into everything—even when there is a hullabaloo going on. Retina, however, will spook and hide when new sounds or movements are introduced into her environment. But while Retina does not want to be in the middle of the action, she is also the lap cat of the pair and loves to cuddle. Sclera will only occasionally want to sit in your lap, although she will always want to be nearby (and maybe pressed against your leg). She will also take longer to get past the ‘Meh, I guess you’re ok’ phase to the ‘Ooh, I like you’ phase.

But there’s more! Sclera is very chatty, while Retina only meows if she is impatiently reminding you of feeding times. On the other hand, she’s more patient when it comes to treats than Sclera is. Don’t you dare go near where the treats live without giving her some!

Both girls are good with their litter box and both scratch nicely on their scratchers rather than the furniture. Your counters should be relatively safe, as long as Sclera can’t figure out how to get up there. And, finally, resign yourself to sharing your bed with them. Both will much prefer sleeping with you at night than anywhere else.
